Founded in 2012 by co-founders Andrew Bialecki and Ed Hallen. They spotted a pattern. Companies had plenty of data, but were unable to answer fundamental questions about their customers. Klaviyo is inspired by “clavija”, a Spanish word for mountaineering pins, also called pitons. These pitons support climbers as they ascend, and catch them if they fall. Klaviyo liken their customers to mountaineers. With a goal is to support and accelerate their climb to the summit.
